About Us

Cooper Street Capital is a vertically integrated private equity real estate company. We identify value-add and income-producing multifamily properties with growth potential in select cities. We manage the complete life-cycle of each asset in-house from acquisition, to operations, to sale. The day-to-day operations of each asset are carried out by CSC Management, a subsidiary property management company wholly owned by Cooper Street Capital.

Cooper Street Capital is motivated by opportunities to develop, retrofit or repurpose existing commercial real estate. As a boutique real estate investment firm, Cooper Street Capital has the expertise to source opportunities from multiple markets and the flexibility to explore creative ways to structure and finance acquisitions that provide for sustainable and superior returns.

The value to investors comes not solely in the completion of any acquisition. In the years since we began, we have come to understand how imperative it is to actively manage every asset. We believe that without strict oversight and painstaking attention to detail, no real estate asset will ever reach its full potential.

Our team is committed to sourcing real estate investments from across the US that have demonstrated strong financial performance in the past or that exhibit the potential for gains in the future. In either case, potential acquisitions must be supported by strong market fundamentals.

Cooper Street Capital aims to minimize downside risk through targeted acquisitions. These acquisitions provide for stable cash flows and seek to capture upside potential for investors through physical renovations and operational improvements.

Brandon Cooper

Brandon has spearheaded the acquisition of over $1.5 billion worth of real estate assets since starting his own real estate investment firms twelve years ago. Prior to founding Cooper Street Capital, Brandon was the co-founder of two other real estate investment firms, Maroon Peak Partners and I-95 Ventures. Before his ventures in real estate, Brandon worked for Merrill Lynch and previous to that, The Center for Middle East Peace in Washington, D.C. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bates College and was on the division I cross country ski team.

Matt Cooper

Vice President // Director of Acquisitions

Prior to crossing over into the private sector and joining Cooper Street Capital in 2016, Matt spent several years in the policy making world, including time spent with the US Delegation to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France. With a background in economics and international trade, Matt’s research was primarily related to the international trade system and the economics of corporate governance frameworks. Though he is no longer using large data sets to assess changing trends in international trade, Matt has leveraged his analytical background to help CSC acquire over $1 billion of commercial real estate since joining. Matt also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French Language from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Science in the International Political Economy from the London School of Economics. He currently lives in New York City where he can be found running in the park with his dog, exploring quiet coffee shops, and escaping to the mountains to ski when he can.

Robert Fay

Director of Investor Relations

Over the past 7-years, Robert has capitalized, acquired, and repositioned over $1.25 billion worth of multifamily real estate raising and managing over $450m in equity from family offices and high-net-worth individuals. Prior to Robert’s real estate ventures, he worked in equity research assisting in the valuation of publicly traded stocks with market caps between $30 – $200 billion and for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. At Cooper Street Capital, Robert is in charge of all things Investor Relations where he works closely with the CEO and Director of Acquisition on capital events for the company and its investing partners. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a dual degree in Economics and Psychology.

Nick Eaton

Nick joined Cooper Street Capital in July 2020 after graduating from Bates College with a dual degree in Economics and Studio Art. He has a passion for entrepreneurship and is always interested in learning something new about business. Nick grew up outside of Boston and moved to Portland, OR with his family before heading back east for college. When he’s not in the office, you’ll likely find Nick fly fishing on one of the many local trout streams, whitewater rafting on the Colorado River, or taking runs on the mountain.

Kayla Doyle

Head of Hiring + HR

Kayla is originally from Portland, OR. Looking to move away from the rain, she went to the University of Arizona to earn a bachelor’s degree in Public Health. Preceding graduation, Kayla spent two years working at Stanford Healthcare’s Enterprise Contact Center where she handled all administrative tasks for 300+ employees. During her time at Stanford, she was able to work closely with HR personnel and thus her passion for Human Resources came to be. After working in Human Resources for a start up in Denver, Kayla was determined to move closer to the mountains while still growing her career in HR. This ultimately led her to Cooper Street Capital where she has become the Head of HR and Hiring. Kayla is a recent Aspen reside, who can’t wait to take advantage of all that Aspen has to offer. She loves to hike, ski and spend time outside with her husband and their dog.

Zoe started at CSC in the Fall of 2022. Zoe graduated from Florida State University in 2017 with a degree in Hospitality . She immediately moved to Aspen to work in the luxury hotel industry. Looking for a change started at Cooper Street Capital in the Fall of 2022. Zoe serves as the Administrative Assistant with a high focus in the Human Resources department. When Zoe isn’t at work she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, skiing, and taking advantage of all the activities Aspen has to offer.

Daniel Simonds

Daniel Simonds

Prior to joining Cooper Street Capital, Daniel served on Active Duty in the U.S. Army as an attorney in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. As a Judge Advocate attorney, Daniel practiced contract and fiscal law, drafting contracts and legal opinions for large-scale military construction projects and intergovernmental real estate agreements. He currently serves in the Army Reserve with the 351st Civil Affairs Command as a Captain. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Law from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School. He currently lives in San Francisco with his fiancé, Emily. Away from work, Daniel loves running in the Presidio and the Marin Headlands training for his next ultramarathon and scouring the Bay Area for the best taco shops.

Sarah joined Cooper Street Capital in the spring of 2022 as an Associate. In her role, Sarah supports both the investor relations and acquisitions arms of the firm. Prior to joining Cooper Street Capital, Sarah worked as an Associate Director at the UCSF/UC Hastings Consortium, spearheading the organization’s operations and strategy. Sarah is a certified mediator with extensive training in mediation and negotiations, which she leverages to support the firm in its acquisition process. Sarah graduated from UC Berkeley Law in 2016 where she received high honors. She received her B.A. in Women’s Studies from the University of Maryland and was inducted into the University’s Scholars Program. In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking in the Redwoods and trips to Stinson beach.

Neil has joined Cooper Street Capital as a Real Estate Analyst. Before joining the firm, Neil interned with Avidbank in San Jose as a commercial real estate credit analyst, honing his underwriting skills in evaluating potential new projects. When Neil first toured college campuses after high school, he was impressed by the master-planned city in Irvine and how real estate can shape and impact the greater community. The experience ultimately convinced Neil to study real estate and pursue a career in the industry, and he later graduated from the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance, real estate, and marketing. In his free time, Neil enjoys going to the gym to workout, hiking with his dog, and attending car shows.

Jeff graduated from Clemson University in 2017 with a degree in Biological sciences with minors in Finance and Microbiology. After graduating, he moved to Aspen and worked in the hospitality industry for two years. From there, Jeff took a job in Los Angeles with The Wonderful Company where he was part of a two year accounting and finance rotation program. He is excited to have moved back to Aspen and be working for CSC. In his free time, Jeff can be found enjoying all the outdoor activities Aspen has to offer.

Michael graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2021 with a degree in Business Administration and an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate. He was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. Shortly after graduating he joined our CSC Management team down in Houston, TX as a Leasing Consultant for three months. Here he worked on site learning about the industry from the ground level. He is excited to be back in the colorful state of Colorado. In his free time, Michael enjoys skiing, hiking, and traveling.

Jeremy (or Rambo) graduated from Stellenbosch University, South Africa in 2018 with a BSc degree in Earth Science and short course certification in Property Development and Investment. After leaving South Africa after university he worked in the hospitality industry, most recently managing a restaurant in Aspen for the past 18 months. He has always had a high interest in the property market and is excited to join the corporate world. He can be seen enjoying all the outdoors that Colorado has to offer!

Samantha was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. She is overjoyed to have moved to Aspen fresh out of college so that she can stay close to her family and experience the mountain lifestyle. Sam graduated in 2021 from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate. She has a love for all things finance and was drawn to CSC so that she can work collaboratively with others–something that really energizes her in her work. In Sam’s free time she enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants, and attending music festivals.
